Open Science & Human Pyramids

Monthly theme:
February | Feÿ Narrans - We tell and create stories about what we do
After last year’s successful human pyramids, open science and AI Feytopia retreat, it's time to elevate this discussion again.
Let's be honest: the principle of openness is under pressure globally. The dream of AI and universal scientific knowledge converging towards a "common good" of infinitely available knowledge is increasingly in question. Yet we've largely built open science and open AI on fair-weather infrastructure—systems and relations that work brilliantly until they are put under pressure.
In this moment, it's tempting to think: "This won't scale. It's every person for themselves now."
But human pyramids teach us something different: to rise above, we must lean into mutual support. Accept interdependence. Check each other's balance, shore up weaknesses, and earn trust.
So what would infrastructure for open science and AI look like if we designed it like we build human pyramids?
Join us to explore this question—and to hyperstition it into reality together. We might even build a piece of it while we're here.
This is a UConference. That means: not a conference—don't expect to sit back and listen; you'll be creating the week. But more structured than an unconference—reach out on Signal if you want to help with organisation.
Sessions in the afternoon.
Mornings and evenings to extend the workshop, work on your own, or just experience the Feytopia energy ✨ And yes, there will be actual human pyramids. Body & mind 🤸
